2003 was quite a year. A misguided war, a devastating fire, and an action-packed governor took us by storm. The year also brought me a lot things on a personal level. I finally experienced my eighteenth birthday. I acquired two, very important cameras, and my photographic pursuits have turned from amateur to professional. I followed some pretty amazing news assignments, and I met my favorite musical artist in the process. I served The Telescope as News Editor, and now I have been promoted to Editor-in-Chief. I have grown immensely as a person and left behind a personal tragedy that once shattered me. I'm in a very different place now than a year ago. I also met a lot of people I'm truly glad to know. Tom Chambers. Allie and Kimberlee Orton. Geoff Colburn. Asia Leads. Tristan Prettyman. Sean and Kathy Toulon. Michelle Newfield. Brian Haeger. Katie Guenthard. Wayne Short. Courtney Foster. Donnie Boyle. Jessica Beach. Erika Krulish. Anastasia Douglass. Don Bartletti. Desmond Barca. Kalyna Lesyna. Adam Marantz. Jason Mraz. Countless Mraz fans. And, of course, many, many more that I can't remember to mention. It's amazing that none of those people had touched my life a year ago! 2003 was also the year of the chameleon, which changed my life in many ways. Through this Web site I met a lot of incredible people. I reunited with old friends. I met new clients. I took my site to Hawaii. I embarrassed myself. I received many memorable comments. I inspired people to create their own weblogs and start taking pictures. I even photographed 100 strangers. But all things change, and good and bad things come to an end. So today, in 2003, the chameleon dies. andrewphelps.com is not going anywhere, though. I'm shifting the focus of my online home to serve a simpler, more professional purpose. It will be primarily a place for my photography. A weblog will return in some capacity soon. And ap-exposures.com will become a specialty site for my modeling photography. Finally, the chameleon will not disappear. You can still visit at andrewphelps.com/chameleon and browse through all the archives and comments. But please change your links to simply www.andrewphelps.com. I personally thank all of the people that make my Web site and my life possible. If you are an enemy: let us become friends. If you are a friend: let us become better friends. Be safe and prosperous in 2004, and think about how you would like to be known when 2005 rolls around. |
